Mobile phone news is almost as quickly moving as the mobile phones themselves. From new rumours to new announcements to new releases, stay current in the news and sound bytes of the mobile phone industry.

First up is the Samsung Galaxy Nexus S: According to Verizon, many stores sold out of this model within virtual minutes of the doors opening. This model is just hours out of the starting block, and it already has potential to outsell Samsung’s other blockbuster, the Galaxy S II. (Iphone 5? What’s an iPhone 5?)

The Nexus, out with Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0, is already getting 4.0.2 – Now that’s update service from Android!

Also, good news for India: The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is headed your way toward the end of January 2012! Scout your place of purchase now, for if the above trend continues, you’ll have to get there really early to purchase your mobile phone. Order early if possible!

Verizon reappears in today’s news round-up. It looks like Verizon is getting the LG Optimus LTE. Only it won’t be called the LG Optimus LTE. Instead, it gets renamed for Verizon as the LG Spectrum. Watch for it.

India, welcome back to the round-up. The Nokia 710 and the 800 are available in India as of today! Reports indicate that these are very popular so far, so don’t wait long to find yours.

Sports fans of the Win 7 type, there’s good news for you, too: Sports Tracker app is now available! It’s free, so don’t let the budget stand in your way. Track your teams, stats and schedules with this free app, and if you join the FB competition, you could win a Nokia 710.

Alas, Research in Motion or RIM quarterly figures through September confirm that it’s still not a very good year for them. Declaring a 71-percent drop in profits from a year ago, the Canadian firm seems to have experienced only $265 million in net income. Perhaps 2012 will be a better year.
